Final workshop and reader launch
On June 30, 2025, the final workshop of the Public Anthropology Network and the public launch of the resulting reader „Public Anthropology: Wissenspraktiken und gesellschaftliche Interventionen der ethnologischen Fächer“ („Public Anthropology: Knowledge Practices and Social Interventions of the Ethnological Disciplines“; published in German, Open Access from June 2025 at Campus Verlag) will take place. In this context, we want to discuss current and future challenges, perspectives and potentials of public anthropology with representatives of different disciplines and fields of practice.
The workshop, which will take place at the Institute for European Ethnology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, will begin with introductory lectures by Larissa Förster (Weltkulturen Museum Frankfurt a.M.) and Jens Adam (Brandenburgische Technische Universität, Cottbus). This will be followed by a roundtable discussion on the topic of “Gesellschaft (Mit-)Gestalten: Kritische Reflektionen Zur Public Anthropology” (“Shaping society: Critical Reflections on Public Anthropology”) and a World Café (including tables on authoritarianism, academic freedom, anonymization and studying/teaching). We will conclude the day with the launch of our network reader at the Aquarium in the Südblock at Kottbusser Tor. All workshop sessions will be taking place in German.
More details can be found in the program. If you are interested, please register for the workshop by 09.06.2025 at public-anthro@polsoz.fu-berlin.de.
